Booking system | A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order starting late summer At the owners' annual meeting, the bookings for the next year are confirmed. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again. Each owner chooses three weeks of which a maximum of two can be in the "high season" (April to September inclusive). A reverse priority is then used for owners to select a fourth week from those still available. Two weeks are usually reserved for winter maintenance in December or January. |
Priority for school holidays | Three shareholders have School Holiday priority booking for which they pay a premium on their monthly fees. |
General Comments About the Boat
Adderbury has a semi-trad layout with enclosed area and gas locker/seat at the stern.
There is a separate ''clip-on' helmsman's seat.
The BMC engine is under the rear deck and drives the propeller via an Aquadrive to reduce vibration and wear on the sterngear.
From the rear deck, there are steps to master bedroom (double bed extendable to king size, storage under), with en-suite cloakroom and full-height wardrobe. There is an electric inverter under the steps. There is also a cordless vacuum cleaner.
Going forward, there is a corridor with a cupboard for the Alde gas central heating system and a door to the bathroom fitted with a shower, basin with cupboard under and wall mirrors over, WC, built-in cupboard, extractor fan.
The galley has sink/drainer, gas hob, oven & grill, microwave, larder fridge under the work surface, large storage cupboards. A good range of crockery and cooking utensils are provided, plenty for a crew of six. Large side hatch off galley, with removable perspex screen.
The raised L-shaped dinette easily seats six with the additional stools, and converts to a comfortable double bed. There is storage under the dinette, plus a table which can be stored securely against the side.
Solid fuel stove and dividing curtain separating sleeping areas.
In the saloon area, there is a double sofabed, flat screen TV with DVD/video player, Freeview receiver.
New carpet tiles were fitted in 2019.
The fully-opening double French doors which fold right back on themselves open up the front deck (this is wonderful in hot weather) which has a seating area for four people with storage lockers under, small free-standing table, separate leatherette cushions for the seating area which are stored inside the boat.
100 gallon fresh water tank.

General comments by vendor
Adderbury is a fine example of a semi-trad narrowboat. It is maintained to a high standard by a combination of using professional engineering services and work undertaken by several of the syndicate members. This ensures that the boat retains its condition at reasonable costs.
The syndicate has built up a significant contingency reserve so that funds are available for major expenditures such as engine replacement or repainting.
