Booking system | Each owner has a designated priority position on a rota which changes each year. This cycle ensures that each owner will move from bottom to top over a five year period when the cycle begins again. Starting with position one, each owner selects two weeks in the high season (April to September) and one week in the low season. The remaining weeks, allowing for winter maintenance, are booked in reverse priority order i.e. from last to first. |
Priority for school holidays | A maximum of two shares may be upgraded to having school holiday priority. This in effect allows an owner with this type of share to have first choice of holidays irrespective of their position on the rota with the proviso that the holidays may only be taken during the school weeks allocated for holidays. The cost of this type of share is set at a premium of 25% of the monthly running costs for the entire year in which the option is taken up. Presently (2018) this option has not been taken up by any of the current owners. |
General Comments About the Boat
Starting from the stern and working forward, the accommodation is as follows:
From the semi-trad stern, the rear deck has a bench seat / lockers on the port side. The two lockers contain 2 x 13kg. gas cylinders, water hose, mooring pins and hooks and windlasses etc. There is also an exterior connector to allow a mains electrical supply.
Sapphire has a conventional layout i.e. rear bedroom, mid galley and lounge forward.
The bedroom has a four foot wide, fixed double bed with three large storage drawers under, a small wardrobe, cupboards over. There is also a general storage area where the second toilet used to be.
Moving forward, next is the bathroom which has a porcelain wash basin with cupboard below, pump out toilet, shower compartment and airing cupboard.
This is followed by the galley which is fitted with a Spinflo cooker, microwave, stainless steel sink (complete with built in water filter) and an LEC fridge.
Next comes the ‘L’ shaped dinette with removable table which can also be converted to a double bed.
Finally, the lounge which includes a ‘Nene’ bed settee, another small wardrobe, coffee table, flat screen TV/DVD, radio/CD and solid fuel stove. The boat is also heated by an Alde gas boiler.
Electrical power is 12 volt and the boat is also equipped with an 1800 watt inverter to enable the use of 240 volt equipment. The use of shore power is also possible. It is also fully protected with gas leakage, CO and smoke alarms.
The front well deck has artificial matting and two folding type chairs. There is also storage for bulky items below the deck, accessible from the interior.
Finally, there is a 100 gallon+ water tank in the bow section.

General comments by vendor
School holiday dates are not very popular with our retired members hence we would not normally see a problem for a member wanting school holiday dates.
Sapphire has a group of owners who meet every year to discuss the next years location and management of this privately operated boat. We have an active policy on maintenance and replacements. The AGM is held in November.
Refurbishments this year have included
Blacking the hull and painting up to the rubbing strake.
Refurb of the kitchen with a new hob , sink and worktop.
Repainting the tunnel flashes.
During the maintenance period the engine is fully serviced and the gas boiler serviced with a full gas check.
We try to do most of the routine maintenance ourselves to reduce costs and involve owners. You do not need specific skills to join us but a willingness to help is appreciated.
The only additional costs are the diesel used during your holiday and pump out costs (£12 at the marina). Gas for cooking and heating and electricity are paid for by the syndicate.
